Penfibre
Penfibre Sdn Bhd, incorporated in February 1973, is wholly
owned by Toray
Industries Inc. Japan. (Toray is a global leader in manufacturing
of fibre, textiles, plastic, chemical and advanced composite
material in the world). Penfibre is also a member of the Toray
Malaysia Group companies located in Penang.
In line with the globalization plan in the manufacturing of
Polyester Film, Toray invested 0.5 Billion Malaysian Ringgit
in 1996 to set
up a Biaxially Oriented Polyester Film plant in Penfibre Sdn
Bhd. The plant starts commercial operation in 1998.
Penfibre Sdn Bhd - Film Division in Malaysia is the eighth Polyester
Film plant of Toray Industries Inc. Three plants are located in
homeland of Japan, one each in the United States, France, Korea
and China.
Film Division has two production lines. The first line produces
thick film, which is suitable for industrial application such
as graphic art, electrical insulation, flexible printed circuit,
label industries and others. The second line produces thin film,
which is mainly for packaging, stamping foil and metallic yarn
industries. Total production capacity is 2,500 Tons per month.
